Abstract:
Field trials with indigenous and other pesticides were carried out against red mites, Tetranychus telarius (L) on ground-nut crop, Arachis hypogea (L). 3 lb active ingredient per acre of each Makrolin, Petkolin, Petkolin-M respectively gave an average 99.3%, 99.6% and 95.8% mortality, while 1.5 lb of chlorobenzilate, 1.9 lb of Roxion, 2.5 lb of Ethion, 1.25 lb of Delnov, 1.0 lb of Phenkaptone, 1.0 lb of Diazinon, 1.0 lb of FAC-20 and 1.0 lb of Metasystox also gave-more than an average of 95% mortality of motile stages. 1.5 lb Tedion and 0.5 lb Endrin gave an average of 93.8% and 91.6% mortality of red mites respectively. 3 lb active ingredient of Petkolin-M gave the highest egg mortality in the field which was found to be 78.3% while chlorobenzilate, Delnow, FAC-20 and Petkolin gave 75% kill of red mites eggs with the above noted concentrations.
