Abstract:
The Herbarium Project was formally launched on October 1, 1974. Nearly 90,000 specimens had been gathered from various parts of Pakistan (1962 major localities stretching from Chitral and Gilgit in the north to Gwadar and Pasni in the south), and more collections are steadily pouring in. Well over 66,000 specimens have so far been mounted, labelled, classified and accessioned and we do hope to have about 100,000 specimens by the end of the currently year. One hundred and fifty-eight families of Angiosperms (out of a total of about 112), listed below alphabetically, are represented in our Herbarium; the remaining families are relatively smaller ones of occasional occurrence.
