Abstract:
Preliminary observations on sugar cane planted in Rabi cereal and winter legume during late autumn (November) showed reasonably good germination in the following spring provided the seed setts are well covered with soil say 2"-3" deep. Further observatory trails on planting cane in early autumn and early winter also yielded useful information thus initiating the necessity of evaluating the effect of time of planting and rotations on the yield and quality of sugarcane.
