Abstract:
Investigations were initiated ( at the Government Fruit Research Station, Mirpurkhas during the year 1967-66) to study the performance of different varieties of tomato imported from Philadelphia (U.S.A.)(in this region) to find out the most promising exotic varieties for acclimatization and seed multiplication. The results obtained are summarized. The variety Rutgers proved to be most promising when compared to the other varieties under trial and is recommended for multiplication. It yields almost three times more than the Local (Peshawar) variety. Variety Gloriana gave the next best performance and may also be tried on commercial basis.
