An analysis of governments health services for rural womenfolk in selected villages of Peshawar district.

Abstract:
The present study was conducted during 2009, with the objectives to examine the health services of public sector for womenfolk in district Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The primary data were collected from 210 females respondents through a structured questionnaire. The study findings show that health services were not easily accessible, poorly equipped and the medicine provided were of sub-standard. Moreover, majority of rural women were poor and they could not afford health care expenses. Based on these findings the study recommends that special attention may be given to social sector by providing them adequate funds for buildings and other physical facilities, qualified and well trained health personnel and also these services may be made easily accessible to the rural communities. In serve these objectives, public-private partnership can be of vital importance to deliver the services through community participation.
