Abstract:
The infrastructureless nature of mobile ad hoc networks poses an extreme challenge for the design of conventional and Quality of Service (QoS) routing protocols. To the best of our knowledge, current QoS routing protocols have primarily been designed to meet QoS metric(s) without concentrating on the robustness of the proposed routing solution. This paper proposes a QoS virtual backbone (QoS-VBB) that can be used for robust QoS routing and monitoring. The proposed QoS-VBB nodes are mainly selected based on individual node stability and available bandwidth for each node. This QoS-VBB has proactive maintenance capability which makes it suitable for dynamic network MANETs` environs. In addition to its preemptive behavior, the proposed QoS-VBB demonstrates several salient features. The analytical studies for the proposed algorithm are presented.
