Abstract:
Loss of electric power during its transit over long distances to load centres and through pilferage beyond a certain irreduceable minimum poses a serious problem. Its magnitude has constantly to be kept in view and measures devised to restrict it to within limits compatible with the internationally accepted standard. Wapda too, has been at it, always trying to cut down power losses in its burgeoning grid system. A theoretical method of calculating power losses has been introduced with a view to containing them. It is suggested that the mathematical approaches in the analysis of power system problem may also receive some kind of recognition and that research on different aspects of power system be started on permanent basis and engineers with suitable aptitude be made responsible to take charge of such organizations.
