Abstract:

A new skewed version of Laplace distribution has been constructed using the skewing mechanism of Huang and Chen (2007) by weighing the Laplace distribution with a periodic trigonometric skew function. The proposed distribution is skewed and has multiple peaks. Important distributional properties and the problem of estimation of parameters have been considered. Finally, the suitability of the proposed distribution has been tested by conducting comparative data fitting.
