Abstract:
Objective: To comprehensively examine the existing literature concerning the application of Whole genome sequencing in deciphering the genomic landscape of Carbapenem Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB). Methodology: The systematic search was conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science focusing on genomics and antimicrobial resistance. Results: The review synthesizes a broad spectrum of research studies, encompassing investigations into the genetic determinants, evolutionary patterns, and dissemination mechanisms of carbapenem resistance in A. baumannii strains worldwide. It endeavors to delineate identified resistance genes, mutations, mobile genetic elements, and their roles in the persistence and dissemination of resistance traits within A. baumannii populations. Conclusion:  The systematic analysis serves as a valuable compendium, offering critical insights into the intricate interplay of genetic elements driving antimicrobial resistance. This, in turn, contributes to the global endeavors aimed at combating CRAB and advancing strategies for effective antibiotic stewardship.
