Abstract:
A Spectroflourometric method has been developed for the determination of cadmium in Zinc-base Die-casting, Copper-base alloys and Tin- metal based on the flourescent chelate formed between cadmium ion and Calcein i. e. 3', 6-dihydroxy-4', 5'-bis [N, N'-(dicarboxymethyl) aminomethyl] fluoran at pH 9. 0 (kcx490 nm; kcm 520 nm). The interferences, which arise from iron (II) and iron (III) are removed by masking with potassium pyrophosphate solution before fluorimetric assay. Results presented illustrate the application of the assay over the range 0. 002-0. 02% w/w cadmium.
