Abstract:
The metallic cobalt powder was applied to the basal amygdaloid nucleus of adult male rabbits, as an epileptogenic agent. On the 7th day after cobalt application, the following degenerative changes were observed in the primary focus under the electron microscope; nucleolus in some of the neurons was disintegrated, contour of gliocyte nuclei was disturbed, the electron density of cytoplasm in some nuclei increased, myelin sheath swell and lost its regular structure, the number of synaptic vesicles increased, and the synaptic endings and matrix darkened.
