Abstract:
In 1960, presence of heavy mineral concentrations was first observed near Cox`s Bazar. Field investigation, laboratory investigations and mineragraphic studies were carried out. Ore reserve estimation and pilot scale studies were made which indicated that large quantities of monazite, zircon and rutile could be recovered alongwith significant tonnage of titanomagnetite and low grade ilmenite.
