Abstract:
Consequent upon the observation that. a single Unani drug is referred to in the literature by two or more plants by their scientific names, thus creating confusions. For example, Unani drug "Arjuna" is confused with Terminalia arjuna Wight and Lagerstroemia speciosa Pers. Comparative pharmacognostic studies carried out on Unani drug and the said plants have resulted in the identification of Unani drug "Arjuna" as Terminalia arjuna, Wight.
