Abstract:
Palynological study of 6 species belonging to 3 genera of the family Mimosaceae from Lahore was conducted. Pollen grains of Mimosaceae are oblate- per-oblate or prolate-sub-prolate, mostly produced in polyads, sometimes monads. Each of the polyads comprised of 8 or 16 cells. The grains of Prosopis species are 3-colporate and single celled and that of Acacia farnesiana are 3-colpate. It is interesting to note that the individual grains of all the members of Mimosaceae except the genus Prosopis are categorized as 3porate. Tectum is commonly psilate or granulate.
