Abstract:
A survey was carried out to determine the occurrence and distribution of entomopathogenic nematodes in Ankara, Turkey. Twenty-six soil samples were collected from 13 different areas of the Faculty of Agriculture Campus, Ankara University, Ankara by using the Galleria larva bait technique (Bedding & Akhurst, 1975). Entomopathogenic nematodes were recovered in three samples. Heterorhabditis bacteriophora Poinar, 1975 and H. marelata liu & Berry, 1996 (Rhabditida: Heterorhabditidae) in two samples and Steinernema feltiae (Filipjev, 1934) Wouts, Mracek, Gerdin & Bedding, 1982 (Rhabditida: Steinernematidae) in one sample. H. marelata is recorded for the first time in the nematode fauna of Turkey. Morphometric characteristics are given.
