Abstract:
The streams and tributaries of Chalegay, Shin and Madyan (district Swat) from which the nymphs were collected have a stoney sub-stratum with silt, mud and pebbles. The nymphs which were collected from a stream near Nigora have also a stoney sub-stratum but with abundant algal flora, silt and mud. The air temperature of district Swat from which the collection was done varied from 21 – 29oC and the water temperature from 13-25oC in months of April, May and August. The present work was carried to collect Mayflies nymphs (Order: Ephemerophera) from different localities of district Swat N.W.F.P. Pakistan to see the effect of sub-stratum, speed and temperature on the distribution of Mayflies (nymphs).
