Abstract:
Translation of scientific discovery into clinical applications is dependent on evidence that can be reproduced and validated. Scientific method used to cultivate the evidence of cause and effect relationship is the key. Understanding of the sensitivity of Blood Brain Barrier upon exposure of therapeutics is critical to measure personalized neurotoxicity profile of any therapeutic agent or intervention. In this fast moving age, development of product, diagnosis of disease and prognosis of treatment demands strong pursuance to identify and quantify biological markers that can tell the normal biological process, pathogenic process or response to therapeutic interventions whether it is chemical or by any other means. Circulating biomarkers of neurotoxicity are the area of importance to respond safety concerns by and large, particularly for the drug applications using pathway of accelerated approval. Development of models for this purpose is at infancy stage within regulatory authority, however, it will answer for so many unknowns and existing blindness in the current system to facilitate drug development and enhance safety.
