Abstract:
The Sukkur Barrage has brought great prosperity to inhabitants, living in its command area. The wheat production has helped in attaining the self sufficiency in recent ._years -and the rice and the cotton have. helped to earn valuable foreign ex-change. The production of various crops has resulted in establishing agro based industries which has further helped in providing job to the ever increasing population. The article deals with the irrigated agriculture, its benefits and problems in Sukkur Barrage command area, covering various aspects of agricultural production, government revenue, exports and crop yields. Some details of design of the Barrage on allied structures, engineering cost return, soils, and problems of water-logging and salinity are other subjects included in the article.
