An objective study on the incidence and prevalence of brucellosis in Lahore area of Pakistan.

Abstract:
A limited survey was carried out from the point of view of finding out the incidence and relationship of brucellosis amongst animals and human beings in Lahore area of Pakistan. Sero1ogical investigation was performed on the sera collected from various livestock experiment farms and Lahore General -Hospital. In all, sera of 777 animals comprising 118 buffaloes, 181 cattle, 241 sheep and 239 goats were subjected to the tube test. The percentage of the positive reactors was 2.59, 11.04, 8.71 and 5.85 respectively. Sera of 307 contact human cases and 224 suspected human patients were also subjected to tube test. The percentage of the positive reactors incontact ., cases were 0.6% and 0% amongst various clinical groups at Lahore General Hospital.
