Abstract:
Three pesticides Biosal (Neem formulation), Chlorpyriphos (organophosphate) and Lambda cyhalothrin (pyrethroid) were tested against four species of berry bug Halys fabricii, H. sulcatus, Salixocoris sindellus and S. excavatus. Regression models for toxicity of insecticides and test species were also developed to calculate the lethal doses After 24 hours of treatments LD50s were calculated to be 80.00, 75.26, 70.29 and 75.87.00% for Biosal against test species insects H. fabricii, H. sulcatus, S. sindellus and S. excavatus respectively followed by LD90s 100.00, 96.32, 93.41 and 75.87%. For Chlorpyriphos LD50s were calculated to be 0.0085, 0.0056, 0.0039 and 0.0044 against test insects H. fabricii, H. sulcatus, S. sindellus and S. excavatus respectively followed by LD90s 0.185, 0.173, 0.151 and 0.163%. Similarly for Lambda cyhalothrin LD50s were calculated to be 0.079, 0.036, 0.014 and 0.031% against test insects H. fabricii, H. sulcatus, S. sindellus and S. excavatus respectively, followed by LD90s which is calculated to be 0.211%, 0.176, 0.151 and 0.066% respectively for all species. In this experiments H. fabricii was found to be more tolerance to all tested insecticides including Neem products. Whereas, no significant effects were recorded within other three species except S. sindellus against Lambda cyhalothrin.
