Abstract:
It is found that the transport properties particularly the Hall effect and deviation from Mattheissens rule do not present a coherent picture of anisotropy of conduction electron scattering in the noble metals at least with regard to electron-impurity scattering. The deviation from Mattheissens rule in dilute copper alloys having Au, Zn, Ga and Ge as impurities has been investigated in the temperature range 290k-670k. Some qualitative as well as quantitative information with respect to the anisotropy of conduction electron scattering in copper and its dilute alloys obtained from the deviation from Mattheissens rule measurements has been discussed.
