Abstract:
Effect of tractor tire compaction was studied on a silt loam soil both under wet and dry soil conditions. Compaction treatments included five, ten and fifteen passes of a Fiat-480 tractor over the same soil strip, no passes being control treatment. It was concluded that wet soil was more susceptible to compaction. Only five tractor passes on wet soil were found as detrimental as ten and f if teen passes.
