Abstract:
Ethenoxy radicals are produced by the thermal degradation of chloromercuryacetaldehyde(CMA) A study has been made of the pyrolysis of CMA at 204, 217 and 234°C under vacuum The products of degradation are mercurous chloride. ketene and acetaldehyde A reaction sheme has been devised to account for the products of degradation, and it has been shown that ethenoxy radical disappears as CH2CHO CH2Co+H CH2CHO+H CH3CHO Ethenoxy radical initiated polymerisation of methyl methacrylate has also been studied.
