Abstract:

Membrane stability and rate of ageing as indicated by ion leakage (%70) were investigated in tubers of six potato cultivars during storage at ambient temperature during 2004 at Abbottabad. Cultivar `Diamont` showed significantly higher ion leakage after 75 and 180 days of storage while `Desiree` showed minimum ion leakage. The results indicate that ageing was faster in Diamont as compared to other varieties.
