Abstract:
Malnutrition is a major public health issue in Pakistan. According to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), around 50% of children under five years of age in Pakistan are stunted, meaning they are short for their age due to malnutrition. Moreover, around 37% of children in Pakistan are underweight, while 17% suffer from acute malnutrition. Malnutrition is a serious issue in females of Pakistan. According to the Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey (PDHS) 2017-18, 36% of women aged 15-49 in Pakistan are underweight, and 44% are anemic. Moreover, the prevalence of stunted growth among girls under the age of 5 is 35%. Poverty, lack of access to proper nutrition, poor sanitation, and lack of education about healthy eating habits are some of the main factors contributing to malnutrition in Pakistan, particularly in rural areas. Moreover, frequent water shortages and poor water quality also impact the overall health of the population. Malnutrition leads to a wide range of health problems such as weakened immune system, stunted physical growth and cognitive development, decreased productivity, and higher rates of mortality. We start screening and treatment of malnutrition children and female group including pregnant lactating mothers and adolescents by providing them supplements and checked the results in a specific area of Pakistan name Vehoa. The ratio of recovery was 80% after treating them with nutrients rich medically approved Supplement. The rest of 20% individuals who does not recover were due to their parent’s negligence. Health education and awareness campaigns were also launched to promote healthy eating habits, sanitation, and hygiene practices to prevent malnutrition, especially to those living in poverty-stricken areas.
