Abstract:
Hydrochloric acid of varying concentrations when used for digesting Dhabb at different time periods in solid-liquid ratio of 1:10 gave optimum yield 6.31 percent of furfural with 20% v/v hydrochloric acid for 90 minutes. The effect of catalysts on the optimum yield of the chemical revealed that Ferric Chlorid (FeC13) had a little effect while Aluminium Chloride (A1C13 ) increased the yield from 6.31 to 9.01 percent.
