Abstract:
Azulene(azu)reacts with Rhenium carbonyl to afford (azu)Re(CO). and (azu)4 Ru2 (CO) but the second derivative exits in two isomeric forms blue and green. In absence of a solvent only one form of (azu) 4Re2(CO)6 (green) is isolated. Azobenzene(azb) gives (azb)4Re2(C0)4 on treatment with Re2(C0)10, in absence of a solvent. Bicycloheptadiene reacts to give a polymeric product having no Rhenium atoms present in it. Potassium trispyrazolylborate behaves in a manner similar to cyclopentadienyl groups to give HB(Pz)3 Re(C0)3. The product isolated from Re(CO)5 and (Me2N)4 B2 probably also involves the shift of electron density from rhenium to boron atoms and contains a metal bond.
