Abstract:
There are a number of medicinal plants being used for protection of stored grains, woollen objects and keep away insects from humans and farm animals. Fifty two such plants were collected and screened for repellent or antifeedant property against insects which infest stored grain. The plant namely Azadirechta indica, Zanthoxylum armatum, Acorus calamus, and Saussurea lappa have shown repellent activity against adults to flour beetless and grain weevils and a plant Rhazya stricta exhibited antifeedant activity against lesser grain borer. These plants have potential for production of stored grain from insect attack during storage:
