Performance analysis of three Blade Propeller using CFD-ACE for Blade Element characterization.

Abstract:
This paper presents the performance characterization and analysis of 3-bladed propeller with a 100-hp engine for a light airplane. The analysis was carried out using an in-house developed code. The algorithm is based on blade element and momentum thrust theories. The theories are combined to describe the full behavior of propeller. The code results correlated successfully with experimental data on ground for thrust and torque. Thus the code, reasonably, predicted propeller performance in the air during various phases of flight.
