Abstract:
This research work deals with the characterization of gilled mushrooms from Kabal tehsil, Swat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan based on morphoanatomical and nrDNA data. During this investigation, 21 species were identified belonging to 14 genera, 11 families and two orders (Agaricales and Russulales) of Basidiomycota. Among these, Agaricaceae was represented by seven species; Agaricaceae sp., Agaricaceae sp. 1, Agaricaceae sp. 2, two Lepiota species; L. brunneoincarnata, L. swatica nom. prov., Leucocoprinus cretaceus and Macrolepiota excoriata. Cortinariaceae, Entolomataceae, Hymenogastraceae, Marasmiaceae, Omphalotaceae, Physalacriaceae and Strophariaceae were represented by one species each; Cortinarius pseudotorvus, Entoloma sericeum, Hebeloma crustuliniforme, Gerronema strombodes, Gymnopus rubrobrunneus nom. prov., Hymenopellis furfuracea and Agrocybe paludosa respectively. Pluteaceae was represented by three Melanoleuca species; M. alboflavida, M. kashmirensis and M. melaleuca. Russulaceae was represented Lactarius rufus and Russula kabalensis nom. prov. Tricholomataceae was represented by two Leucopaxillus species; L brunneus nom. prov. and L. gentianeus. This study includes four new species and 10 new records from Pakistan. This research will provide a baseline for further taxonomic and comparative analysis of gilled mushrooms which will be helpful in applied mycology.
