Abstract:
Extension in an informal educational process involving voluntary audience and teaching for learners centre. School type education has captive audience and is subject centered extension being a medium of information for demonstrating, convincing, getting action and adoption of new ideas and practices which are arming at-the development of the human resources. During developing extension the basic principles of programme development must be considered.(1) Extension programmes should be based on needs of the people. (2) Extension programmes are developed with the people and-not for them. It should be developed jointly with those who are to accept change and those who exert influence of change. (3) Programme objectives must be clearly defined and realistically timed. (4) resources available both human and material must always be considered._ (5) Co-operation, help and assistance that can be available for the programme from other agencies working in the area should be considered. (6) Programmes should be flexible so that necessary modifications alterations or changes may be made if required. (7) Final evaluation should be based on the objectives of the programmes and not on work done by staff.
