Abstract:
Eighty seven representative soil samples from Tehsil Matta, Saidu Sharif and Alpori of Distt. Swat, were collected from 0-15, 15-30, 30-45 cm depths. Total and hot water soluble boron status, particle size distribution, lime (CaCO3), organic matter, pH and electrical conductivity were studied. The texture of soils was clay loom to sandy loam in Matta and Alpori while Saidu Sharif soils were sandy clay loam. The overage total boron ranged from 21-. 93-49. 90, 12.86-37.33 and 4.33-70.00 ppm in Tehsil Matta, Saidu Sharif and Alpori respectively. The average H.W.S. boron ranged from 0.29-1.42, 0.42-0.71 and 0.59-0.92 ppm in Tehsil Matta, Saidu Sharif and Alpori soils. It was found that all the soil series analysed except one: i.e. Bahrain from Tehsil Matto are deficient in available boron.
