Abstract:
Vegetative growth of plants was better, when one pound of additional Nitrogen was applied in the form of farm yard manure, Oil Cake and Ammonium Sulphate alone, or in combination. It was found that no significant differences were caused in the fruiting phase of banana plants by bulk application of farm yard manure or its complete or partial replacement with organic or inorganic fertilizer. The growers need not depend entirely on farm yard manure for enriching their banana fields with soil nutrients, but alternate resources of organic manures like Oil Cake or inorganic manures like Sulphate of Ammonia or other Nitrogenous fertilizer, may be effectively used either for partial or complete replacement of farm yard manure.
