A simple and direct assay for measuring haemolytic activity of purified streptolysin S(SLS).

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to devise a simple, quantitative, convenient assay for the detection of haemolytic activity of streptolysin S (SLS), produced by Streptococcus pyogenses Group A. By this assay a linear relationship between haemolytic activity of SLS and diameter of the zone could be established. The haemolytic activity of SLS was found to be dose-dependent.
