Abstract:
The study was designed to analyze the impact of socio-economic factors on the women’s participation in crop production in district Charsadda, during 2001. Factors such as number of adult males in the household income earned by female family members and males showed a negative effect on women`s participation in crop production. However, as tenurial status of respondents changes from tenant to owner-cum-tenant and family system changes from nuclear to joint, women participation in crop production increases significantly. The effect of women age on their participation in crop production is nonsignificant while family size is inversely related to women participation in both pre and post harvest activities. Further since women make more than 50 percent of the total population in the country therefore there is demand for involving more women in farm sector that can release male family workers for off-farm work leading to the improvement in tile social status of their families.
