Abstract:

TEM is a recent technique in the study of minerals. Rhodochrosite minerals from two different localities are selected for investigation using this technique coupled with Energy Dispersed X- ray Microanalysis (EDX) and optical methods. The microstructural features observed are similar to those already noted in other rhombohedral carbonates. The major microstructures in this mineral are the modulations and denderite-like ribbons. Like other carbonates these structures are very much related with the impurities in the crystal.
