Algae in ponds and water supplies.

Abstract:
Thirty nine species are reported which cause changes in taste and odour in water. Methods of removal of taste and odour are given. The problems caused by algae in water supplies such as slime formation, colouration & corrosion are discussed. Includes table of comparison of four major groups of algae in water supplies. Effect of filtration on the threshold odour number of several water plants and effect of sedimentation on the threshold odour number at several water plant are also mentioned.
