Abstract:
The' problem of scheduling the productions of multi-product lots on a single machine is not really so easy to solve as it sounds. The computational difficulties are such that, although a solution always exists as long as the usage value on the machine does not exceed 100% yet at present there is no algorithm available which can solve the problem optimally. It can be expected. that this problem and its ramifications will attract the attention of research workers for many years to come.
