Abstract:
A study of market data of 13 years duration from 1981 to 1993 was conducted to examine trend of market prices of poultry products in the province of Punjab. The producers (PP) and consumers prices (CP) of farm eggs and live broilers prevailing in different parts of the province were recorded on daily basis from poultry farmers and local markets through different field offices of this Institute. The increase in PP and CP from the year, 1981 to 1993 was found to be 126.87 and 147.89 percent, respectively, for eggs and 102.20 and 103.07 percent, respectively for broilers. The trend of increase in prices was found to be higher for CP than that of PP. Based on the record of average prices of eggs and broilers, regression lines were fitted which enabled to predict of future prices of poultry products with 95 percent level of confidence.
