Abstract:
This study was designed to identify factors, which could predict GPA in GCU system of education and assessment at M. Sc. level. Interestingly enough, neither marks obtained in Psychology at baccalaureate nor performance in Entry Test and Interview for admission in M . Sc . Psychology was found to significantly predict GPA in the M . Sc. Psychology program. Overall divisions/grades ( in Matriculation. Intermediate and B.A./B.Sc. examinations ) and the English Language Proficiency Test score, however, significantly predicted GPA. The results of the study thus prov ided guidelines for realigning system of admission in GCU. Alternatively, it showed that GPA underlies proficiency in English language more than knowledge of the relevant subject . How ever. it is recommended that for valid and more generalizable results replication studies may be carried out in other disciplines as well, so that the results are confirmed. As a long-term measure, program evaluation in Psychology may also be undertaken in its own right to address some of the implications of this study.
