Abstract:
Mis-statement of age is most marked in highly illiterate population ,dad this may be deliberate or unintentional. Due to unfamiliarity of the people with the objectives of. the census, carelessness in reporting the correct age is responsible for irregular age distribution. Ignorance of correct age is also responsible in this respect. Literacy rate varies from a maximum of 32.2% for Karachi District to a minimum of 2.9 in Kharan District, which shows that one third persons of the district with highest literacy rate; were literate. Kharan District heads the joint score table with maximum error and Sialkot with minimum error laid at the bottom. This confirms the statement 'higher the level of literacy, lower the extent of error and vice versa.
