Abstract:
An overview has been presented regarding preIslamic medicine, Hippocrates, Galen, era of muslim medicine, contributions made in medicine during the period of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), ethics and health, foods and drinks and the glorious achievements of muslim physicians and scholars. The outstanding contributions made by Abu Bakr Muhammad Bin Zakariyya Razi and Ibn Sina have been adequately described. In Iran, muslims had contributed a great deal to medicine and published 200 books of great significance to medicine. Among the physicians and writers of the Western Caliphate, Abu el Qasim Zharawal, Ibn Zahr, musa bin maymun Ibn Sarabi Inb Wafid, Ibn=Jul jul, Ibn Baytar and RashidalDinal Suri had made.strides.in the traditional medicine and surgery, materia medica, physical sciences and produced a number of works of classical importance. The impact of P. reblaedicine on France and. England has been deep and lasting. the emergence of muslim hospitals and role of magnificent libraries built up by muslims marks the unparallel glory of the Muslims. The era of muslim ascendency gives the reflection of cohesion, balance and equilibrium in various disciplines of science and. medicine unlike the present controversial age of science.
