Abstract:
The seeds of two mungbean varieties, 6601 and 7117 were irradiated with 10,20,40 and 80 Krad gamma rays to observe the effects on pods per plant, pod length, seeds per pod and 100 seed weight. Highly significant effects of radiation doses were observed. Magnitude of variation was different in both the varieties 6601 and 7117. Highest treatment of 80 Krad induced wide variations towards the negative direction except for the 100 seed-weight measure increased pods per plant, pod length and seeds per pod were generally obtained in the dose range of 10 to 40 Krads.
