Abstract:
The species of Olea were collected from localities of different ecological conditions and their stomata size was compared. The species studied were Olea europaea and Olea ferruginea. The localities, from where the material was collected, were Pakistan Forest Institute (P.F.I.), Peshawar, Agricultural Research Institute, Tarnab and Thana, Malakand Agency. Olea ferruginea (cultivated at P.F.I. ) had the largest mean stomata size of 5. 789 cm2±0.091 whereas the smallest stomata size was 4.282 cm2±0.078 in Olea eruopaea (also cultivated at P.F.I.). Olea ferruginea (wild at Thana and cultivated at Tarnab) had mean stomata size of 4.92 4.92 cm2±0.057 and 4.8.65 cm2±0.105 respectively.
