Abstract:
Three distinct varieties of babul come true to seeds in Pakistan from forestry point of view. Acasia arabica var typica is the most important. Babul starts bearing seeds at an early age, but good and healthy seeds can be obtained from trees of about 15 years of age. The seeds can be collected from standing trees or from the ground, but the seeds collected from the droppings of cattle and goats are less liable to insect attack, and gives higher germination percentage.
