Abstract:
The main drawback of the gas turbine engine is its relatively low efficiency. This efficiency is very sensitive to components inefficiencies. Hence special care and intensive research have been devoted to improve compressor and turbine efficiencies, leaving the improvement in combustion irreversibility as a formidable area of research and development. The work is devoted to the reasoning for reactivation of the research and development which may lead to reduction in combustion irreversibility which accounts for a loss of about 50% of the engine energy input.
