Abstract:
Chromatographic purification of the methanolic extract of the aerial roots of Ficus bengalensis resulted the purifiaction of 3β- acetoxyurs-9,(11),12-diene ,(1), a new triterpene together with lupeol ,(2), lupeol acetate ,(3), conrauidienol ,(4), β-sitosterol ,(5), alpinum isoflavone ,(6), methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate ,(7), 4-hydroxymellein ,(8), 4-hydroxybenzoic acid ,(9), p-coumaric acid ,(10), oleanolic acid ,(11) and β-sitosterol 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside ,(12). These compounds ,(1-12) were characterized by using 1D- ,( 1H, 13C) and 2D-NMR ,(HMQC, HMBC, COSY, NOESY) spectroscopy and mass spectrometry ,(EI-MS, HR-EI-MS, FAB-MS, HRFAB-MS), and in comparison with the data reported for related compounds in literature. These isolates ,(1-12) showed inhibitory activity against enzyme α-glucosidase with IC50 values ranging between 26.3-297.7 µM.
