Abstract:
The as-grown crystals of indium doped zinc selenide are yellowish brown in colour and transparent. Examination of chemically thinned samples of such crystals in the Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) shows that the only observable crystallographic defects are long thin twins. when samples containing concentrations of indium in excess of 5Oppm are heated in molten zinc at 850°C, they become darker and more opaque as precipitation effects occur. The nature of the precipitates and the mechanism of their formation are discussed.
