Abstract:
The kinetic alterations of acetylcholinesterase (Ach.E) of human erythrocytes (EC 3.1.1.7) help in diagnosing cases of chronic renal failure. The kinetic parameters (aKm, aVm) of Ach. E were compared with other pathological parameters such as urea, creatinine and Hemoglobin (Hb), using pre-dialysed blood samples of the patients. We have studied about 200 admitted renal patients. The activity of the enzyme was estimated by the method of Ellman GL. at 300C and pH 7.4, using acetyl thiocholine iodide as a substrate. The parameters aKm and aVm were used for the estimation of enzyme activity. The activity of the enzyme goes down in the diseased state and correlation among the other parameters is very significant for diagnosing a disease while prediction of one parameter from the other is possible.
