Abstract:
Formalin is the most widely used tissue preservation solution. It is an excellent preservative of cellular morphology. But tissues preserved in formalin do not give ideal staining reactions with immunohistochemistry- which is an important tool in contemporary medicine. So three recently developed organ preservation solutions, namely, ringer lactate, EC solution and UW solution were tried in place of formalin. Tissues were kept at room temperature as well as at 0-4°C. UW solution gave the best morphological preservation at both temperatures. In addition, preservation in this solution was the least effected by temperature, whereas the other two solutions gave superior preservation at lower temperature.
